Hashtag is a non-hierarchical keyword or term assigned to a piece of information such as those in “#T20 is my favourite kind of #cricket”. Here hashtags used are “#t20″ and “#cricket”. Most of twitter user use hashtags. There are many hashtags we have seen on twitter but we don’t know the meaning of them.
Here is the list of some popular hashtags on twitter.
- #fb – This tag is used by people who have installed selective tweet apllication on facebook. By adding “#fb” in tweet, same status will update on facebook too.
- #fail – To indicate a failure. eg:- ?India eliminated from T20 world cup.
- #nowplaying – It indicates that what the current user is listening. eg- #nowplaying Right Now (na na na).
- #tcot – Top conservatives on twitter is a coalition of conservatives on Internet. This hashtag has over 1 million followers.
- #teamfollowback – “Meaning that you will follow back” started to help people to get followers.
- #beforeihavetwitter – for eg- Facebook is number one #beforeihavetwitter.
- #subtweet -It basically indicates that the tweet in which the hashtag is used is a “Subliminal Tweet”.
- #twitteroff – When people sign off their twitter account.
- #followfriday – Every Friday you can use this tag to suggest people to follow. For eg- #followfriday @sachin_rt @imsrk.
- #ff – It is a short form of #followfriday.
- #lofnotc – “Losers of friday night on their computers” founded by @amandapalmar.
